Connection Methods for HDPE Double-Wall Corrugated Pipes

 

1.The rubber ring shall be installed in the groove between the second and third corrugations of the spigot end. The number of sealing rings to be installed shall be determined according to design requirements. When two sealing rings are adopted, it is recommended to leave one corrugation interval between them.

 

2.Before joint assembly, clean the inner and outer surfaces of the socket and spigot end thoroughly. Fit the sealing ring onto the spigot end, then apply lubricant (ordinary soapy water is sufficient) to the working surface inside the socket and the surface of the rubber ring. Align the pipe with the centerline of the socket in the direction of water flow, then slowly insert the pipe to be installed fully into the socket—either manually or by setting up a wooden baffle and using a crowbar—until it reaches the bottom stop.

3.After the joint assembly is completed, backfill the reserved groove compactly with the same type of soil immediately.

 

4.For the installation of bell-and-spigot pipes, the spigot end shall face the direction of water flow, the socket shall face against the direction of water flow, and the pipes shall be installed sequentially from the downstream to the upstream.

 

5.Pipes shall be laid in a straight line, and the allowable deflection angle between the axes of two adjacent pipe sections shall generally not exceed 2 degrees. To prevent the axial displacement of the laid pipes when the joints are closed, pipe stabilization measures must be adopted. Woven bags filled with sand can be used and pressed on top of the laid pipes after sealing; the quantity shall be determined according to the pipe diameter. After pipe joint assembly, the pipe bottom elevation and axis shall be rechecked to ensure compliance with requirements. If displacement, floating or joint pulling occurs, rework shall be carried out immediately.
